It does not handle bookkeeping, VAT returns, or e-commerce order imports. The product is built specifically for cross-border EU e-invoicing compliance, covering Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands from one account with a flat unlimited pricing model from the Advanced plan.

Where easybill is stronger

easybill supports ZUGFeRD 2.4 at both the Standard (EN 16931) and Extended profiles. The Extended profile allows structured discount (Skonto) data to be transmitted in a machine-readable format that the recipient's accounting system can process automatically. Facturwise supports ZUGFeRD 2.4 at EN 16931 profile level. For businesses that use payment terms with Skonto and want those transmitted as structured data, the Extended profile in easybill provides an additional level of invoice data richness.

easybill's permanent free plan is more generous in scope than Facturwise's free plan for users who invoice within Germany. The easybill free plan provides 50 documents per month, up to 3 customer contacts, ZUGFeRD and XRechnung output, a direct DATEV connect interface, and GoBD-compliant document archiving. Facturwise's free plan provides 5 invoices total with no monthly renewal, covering all four formats including Factur-X and Peppol BIS 3.0, with no document limit on paid plans.

easybill's direct DATEV connect interface is a stronger integration than Facturwise's DATEV-compatible CSV export. With easybill, invoice data and receipts transfer directly to DATEV servers without manual export steps. The Steuerberater can access the account directly or receive data via the DATEV connect interface. Facturwise generates a DATEV-compatible CSV that the Steuerberater imports manually. For businesses whose Steuerberater workflow is built around a direct DATEV data feed, easybill provides a tighter integration.

For German e-commerce businesses, easybill's Import Manager is a significant differentiator. Orders from 50 or more online shops and marketplaces including Amazon, eBay, and Shopify are imported automatically, with existing buyer data, product data, and payment details applied to generate invoices without manual entry. This feature is not available in Facturwise, which is built around manual invoice creation or template-based workflows rather than e-commerce order processing.

GoBD-compliant document archiving is included in all easybill plans including the free plan. Documents are stored indefinitely in compliance with German commercial law archiving requirements. Facturwise does not provide GoBD-compliant archiving.

Where Facturwise is stronger

The format gap is the primary difference between the two tools. easybill does not offer Factur-X or Peppol BIS 3.0 as user-facing features in its product. This is not a minor gap; it is the difference between being able to invoice French and Belgian clients compliantly or not.

Factur-X 1.0.8 at EN 16931 profile level is required for invoicing French business clients under France's e-invoicing mandate, which became active for receipt in September 2026 and extends to sending for all businesses in September 2027. There is no documented path within any easybill plan to generate Factur-X invoices for French clients. Facturwise generates Factur-X 1.0.8 on all plans including the free tier.

Peppol BIS 3.0 has been mandatory for Belgian B2B invoicing since January 2026. If you invoice Belgian business clients, Peppol BIS 3.0 is the format their systems require. easybill does not document Peppol BIS 3.0 as a user-facing feature in any of its plans. Facturwise generates Peppol BIS 3.0 on all plans including the free tier. Facturwise's pricing model is simpler and more predictable for businesses with growing invoice volumes. From the Advanced plan at €13.90 per month, invoices and clients are unlimited with no per-document charge. easybill's pricing is document-count based: the Starter plan covers 250 documents per month and the Professional plan starts at 500, with additional documents charged at €0.29 each beyond the monthly limit. For businesses whose invoice volume varies month to month or grows over time, Facturwise's flat unlimited model removes the risk of unexpected variable costs.

Facturwise's interface runs in English, German, and French with full UI localisation in all three languages. Invoice output supports 22 languages from the same account. easybill is primarily a German-market product. While partial English interface elements exist, the primary product experience, documentation, and support are in German. For users who work in English or French, easybill presents a practical language barrier that Facturwise does not.

The document-based pricing model: what it means in practice

easybill's pricing is based on the number of documents generated per month rather than a flat unlimited rate. This model works well for businesses with predictable low invoice volumes. The free plan at 50 documents per month and the Starter plan at 250 documents per month cover most freelancers and small businesses that invoice a defined set of clients on a regular cycle.

The model introduces variable cost for businesses with seasonal peaks or growing invoice volumes. If a Professional plan user generates 600 documents in a month against a 500 document allowance, the additional 100 documents cost €29 at €0.29 each. easybill's Flex option caps the additional cost, which limits the downside. But the unpredictability of variable document costs is a relevant factor for any business whose invoicing volume is not consistent month to month.

Facturwise charges a flat monthly rate with no per-invoice or per-document charges. Advanced at €13.90 per month covers unlimited invoices and unlimited clients with no overage cost regardless of how many invoices are generated. For businesses that invoice heavily in certain months and lightly in others, or whose client base is growing, the flat model provides cost certainty.

E-invoicing format support: the detail that matters

Both tools support ZUGFeRD 2.4 and XRechnung 3.0. Both are available from their respective free plans. The version and compliance level are equivalent for the German B2B mandate. For businesses invoicing exclusively German clients, both tools meet the legal requirement.

easybill's ZUGFeRD implementation includes both the Standard (EN 16931) and Extended profiles. The Extended profile carries additional structured data including Skonto terms. Facturwise implements ZUGFeRD 2.4 at EN 16931 profile level which is the profile required for the German B2B mandate. Both approaches meet the mandate. The Extended profile in easybill provides additional structured data richness for businesses that use payment discount terms.

The gap opens for cross-border invoicing. easybill does not support Factur-X or Peppol BIS 3.0 as user-facing features. France's mandate requires Factur-X for French business clients. Belgium's mandate requires Peppol BIS 3.0 for Belgian B2B clients. If your client base includes French or Belgian businesses, easybill cannot generate the format those clients require regardless of which plan you are on. When easybill is the right choice

easybill is the right choice if you invoice exclusively German clients and value a permanent free plan that includes ZUGFeRD and XRechnung, a direct DATEV connect integration, and GoBD-compliant archiving from day one without paying anything.

If you run an e-commerce business selling on Amazon, eBay, Shopify, or other platforms, easybill's Import Manager is a compelling reason to choose it. Automatic order import and invoice generation from 50 or more platforms on the Professional plan removes a significant amount of manual work that Facturwise cannot address.

If your invoice volume is predictable and stays within the document limits of the Starter or Professional plan, the document-based pricing works in your favour. The Starter plan at €12 per month (annual billing) for 250 documents is competitive pricing for a tool that includes ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, DATEV connect, and GoBD archiving.

If you need multi-user access for a small team, easybill's Premium plan at €30-35 per month includes 3 users and project management with time tracking, which covers basic agency or small team workflows in one tool.

When Facturwise is the right choice

Facturwise is the right choice if you invoice clients across Germany, France, Belgium, or the Netherlands and need all four e-invoicing formats from one account.

If you invoice French clients who require Factur-X under France's September 2026 mandate, or Belgian clients under Belgium's January 2026 Peppol mandate, easybill does not provide a path to generate those formats. What Facturwise does not do

This comparison would not be honest without stating clearly what Facturwise does not cover. Facturwise does not handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, VAT return preparation, ELSTER submission, P&L reporting, or GoBD-compliant document archiving. There is no e-commerce order import. Time tracking is basic compared to easybill's Premium plan project management. There is no native mobile app yet. No automated receipt scanning or OCR.

Facturwise assumes you already have an accounting solution in place, whether a Steuerberater handling your books via DATEV, a separate accounting tool for your domestic market, or your own bookkeeping process. Facturwise handles the outgoing invoice compliance layer with particular focus on cross-border EU formats. Everything else stays in your existing setup.
